Irish dancing schools have danced to this jig at feisanna, proving it to be an ideal tune for choreographed foot tapping and stylistic body movement. It was a favorite of Joe Cooley’s at such events he enjoyed the challenge of ‘tangling with it’, as was his way of describing how he played it. Barney Brannigan himself was the stage name of a vaudeville performer who is said to have played at least four kinds of instruments as part of his show.
