The Irish Traditional Music Archive (ITMA) is committed to providing free, universal access to the rich cultural tradition of Irish music, song and dance. If you’re able, we’d love for you to consider a donation. Any level of support will help us preserve and grow this tradition for future generations.
I associate this with an older generation of musicians of New York City, especially Andy McGann, James ‘Lad’ O’Beirne, Larry Redican, etc. As I watched a TV show at home in 1968, I was able to tape the tune as it was played by Bronx fiddler Kathleen Collins and button box maestro Joe Burke. I remember them playing it with great polish and sophistication. It wasn’t long before I tried doing the same as this new one throbbed and boiled within me!
