This reel was played over the radio during the late 1950s by Ciarán Mac Mathúna. He featured Paddy O’Brien of Portroe, Tipperary, as the accordion player who rendered this setting of it. It quickly became a favorite of Irish traditional musicians and their audiences everywhere.
