Lough Gill is a lake in Co. Sligo. This version of the tune was recorded by Michael Coleman sometime during the 1920s. His title for the tune is different from the one here. It was given to me by John Kelly, who scorned anyone who had any other name for it. I heard him say, ‘Woe to the gligín who neglects the name of this!’
