    The Irish Traditional Music Archive (ITMA) is committed to providing free, universal access to the rich cultural tradition of Irish music, song and dance.     Irish-based donors can see their donations augmented by the State through the CHY3 form, which makes any donation above €250 worth €362.33 towards ITMA’s archival work, at no additional cost to you.

    I got the name of this tune from North Co. Tipperary fiddler Sean Ryan, who told me that Ireland had its share of turncoats that led to its civil war in 1922. This hornpipe was often played on Raidió Éireann when I was a teenager in Co. Offaly. It’s also part of Francis O’Neill’s collection of 1850 tunes.
