Michael Coleman first recorded this on a 78 rpm record. His fiddleperformances of such tunes inspired hundreds of solo fiddlers in later years. James Kelly of Dublin / Miami Springs has redefined the tune from the Coleman listening experience and his rendition of it nowadays is a wonder to hear. Its origin is from the great Mayo fiddle player John McFadden, who composed the hornpipe and later gave it to the Francis O’Neill Collection of Irish music.
