This one Willie Clancy dug out of O’Neill’s 1001 Collection. However, he would rarely be heard playing it, except when he was playing along with other musicians who knew the tune from him. During Ireland’s notorious landlord era, a lad who could work a plow with horses was held in high esteem and might sometimes receive extra wages. This would depend on circumstances, whether the lad was working directly for a landlord, or if the owner of an estate rented him out as a plowman to another landowner.
