I play this in the key of F, so as I can capture the feel of the tune a little better than when it’s played on the B/C box in its normal key of G. It’s another of the Sligo / Leitrim flute polkas, but most associated with Leitrim flute player John McKenna (1880-1947), who highlighted the old polka tradition of his native Co. Leitrim. McKenna recorded his first 78 rpms in 1921.
