I began playing this when I was a child of eight years, as I then began the long extent of my repertoire. It probably was one of the first half-dozen tunes I was then learning on my old mouth organ. The tune is also a song with lyrics: ‘Oh, if I had Maggie in the wood / I’d do her all the good I could / If I had Maggie in the wood / I’d keep her there ’til mornin”.
