The Irish Traditional Music Archive (ITMA) is committed to providing free, universal access to the rich cultural tradition of Irish music, song and dance. If you’re able, we’d love for you to consider a donation. Any level of support will help us preserve and grow this tradition for future generations.
John McKenna (1880-1947) emigrated to the U.S. in 1909, shortly after he was married and in the 1920s and 30s, recorded several 78 rpm discs. His staccato style of flute playing was an instant hit in his home county of Leitrim and around traditional music haunts in Ireland as well as the U.S. This jig is attributed to one of his recordings.
