The original setting of this tune was composed by Turlough O’Carolan (1670-1738). It was later converted into a set dance by some unknown artist whose interpretation could be counted on. Fermanagh flute player Cathal McConnell introduced the tune to the traditional music scene in Ireland during the mid-1960s.
