This jig came to me from a Saturday night radio broadcast of the Castle Céilí Band in 1968. The jig has strong piping roots in west Clare and was often played by Willie Clancy. Wattles, or rushes, were used as the inner foundation to prepare the roofs of old Irish homes for thatching.
