The Children are welcome to visit the ITMA library, attend ITMA events, engage with ITMA staff at Pop-Up Archives and may be featured in the ITMA collections.
At ITMA we believe that

- Our guiding principles and procedures to safeguard children and young people reflect national policy and legislation and we will review our guiding principles and child safeguarding procedures every two years.
- All children and young people have an equal right to be respected as individuals and encouraged to reach their potential, regardless of their background.
- We are committed to upholding the rights of every child and young person who visits ITMA, including the rights to be kept safe and protected from harm, listened to and heard.
- Our guiding principles apply to everyone in our organisation.
- All staff, board members and volunteers must conduct themselves in a way that reflects the principles of our organisation.

ITMA is committed to ensuring that
- the safety and welfare of chidren is central at all times.
- staff are aware of their responsibilities when working with children and have clear guidance and procedures.
- best practice is followed in the recruitment of staff and volunteers.
- appropriate training and Garda vetting procedures are followed.
TUSLA have developed an online child protection course which all staff must complete. All staff members, including contract staff, should complete this Child Protection training. This will be logged in the ITMA training register. This training, along with the reading of ITMA child protection policies and procedures, will be included in the induction of new staff members.
Child welfare must be taken into account in any recruitment decisions, both for staffing and volunteering positions.
