Award winning accordion player Conor Connolly joined Alan Morrisroe in the ITMA Reading Room for an evening of discussion and live music. The musicians who hail from Galway and Mayo respectively, delved into the early recorded history of Irish traditional music and some of the accordion players which have been a source of inspiration and intrigue to Conor along his own musical path.
Conor was awarded the TG4 Gradam Ceoil Ceoltóir Óg/Young Musician of the Year in 2019.
TG4 Young Musician of the Year for 2019, Conor is a button accordion, piano player and singer from Clarinbridge, Co. Galway. He hails from an area steeped in Irish music that produced legendary players like Joe Cooley and the late Joe Burke.. He cites many varied sources and inspirations like Cooley, Burke, Tony McMahon, Charlie Harris and pipers like Willie Clancy, Séamus Ennis and Seán McKiernan along with the great Sligo fiddlers from the early 20th century.
Conor has toured and performed extensively and is a regular at the summer schools at home and abroad. He represented Ireland at the World Expo in Dubai in 2021
