Tatter Jack may have been a priest in Chicago, since people in the old days would usually address ‘Father Jack’ in Irish as ‘An tAthair Jack.’ I also learned this from Seamus Egan, whose uncle Cyl Donellan ‘dug it’ out of O’Neill’s – it was a tune he would often play on his fiddle.
