Boyle is an old north Co. Roscommon town, and was hugely popular as a Fleadh Cheoil venue during the 1960s and 1970s. The tune has been a long-time favorite among pipers and many variants of it are respected among connoisseurs. Dublin piper Tommy Reck comes to mind as a great exponent of its melody and giving it extra charm.
