The celebrations that occurred on New Year’s Day, January 1, 1900 inspired the title of this remarkable hornpipe. It’s an old-time stage style hornpipe, whose composer is lost to the ages. Paddy O’Brien (Tipperary) introduced this one from the pages of O’Neill’s collection. He also played it as a member of the Lough Gowna Ceilf Band in Dublin in 1964.
