This is another radio tune I learned from Co. Wexford box player George Carroll, when he was aired playing the hornpipe around 1967. Another lovely playing of it came from an Ennis, Co. Clare concert recording of Joe Cooley (around 1966) whose heavy foot-tapping onstage accompanied the tune like a massive drum. This overall sound was re-echoed throughout the concert hall as the foot-tapping compelled the audience to join in. Its loose and happy rhythm makes this hornpipe a gem of a tune. Its old style melodic expression and natural tempo make it an ideal hard shoe dance tune.
