    The Irish Traditional Music Archive (ITMA) is committed to providing free, universal access to the rich cultural tradition of Irish music, song and dance. If you’re able, we’d love for you to consider a donation. Any level of support will help us preserve and grow this tradition for future generations.

    Make your donation go further: a donation of €250 or more in any tax year is worth an additional 44.93% to ITMA. So for €50 more, ITMA can claim an additional €112.33 tax back from revenue.

    Irish-based donors can see their donations augmented by the State through the CHY3 form, which makes any donation above €250 worth €362.33 towards ITMA’s archival work, at no additional cost to you.

    ITMA is eligible for 501(c)3 donations, so for potential donors based in the USA, donating to ITMA can be a tax efficient way of making more and more archival material accessible to remote users.

    The title of this brings me back to when I was a shy kid in our old thatched home in Castlebarnagh. It was common for us to have people visit our home for a chat and a cup of tea or sometimes a card game or a game of rings. These ‘friendly visits’ could be during the day but more often in the evening. For me and my four sisters, it brought excitement and fun into our lives as we listened quietly in the background. I later learned this hornpipe from several céilí band performances from listening to our battery-energized radio!
