Donal Ward of Carrick, Co. Donegal gave me a recording of John Doherty playing this. It was from a reel-to-reel tape that belonged to Donal’s uncle, Columba Ward, who had taped the great fiddle music of John Doherty during the 1960s. Donal told me that Sally Hegarty was a melodeon player from Donegal. I recorded this one with The Castle Céilí Band in 1970.
