Lord Mayo (1681-1741) or Theobald Bourke was honored with this slow air after he fired a young servant boy after they had a quarrel. The boy departed the big house of the Lord in despair, but later returned and stood in the snow outside and played this air on his harp. The boy had composed the air in honor of his master and when Lord Mayo heard the tune he was so impressed with its melody that he immediately took the boy into his employment again.
