It is said that a landed gentleman organized a party at his estate where there ensued a lot of drink and merriment. Several card games were played, and the final game was won by the resident piper, who said he had a fresh piece of music he wanted everyone to hear. When he finished the tune his patron was so impressed that he shook hands with the piper, saying: “My dear fellow, you are the ace and deuce of pipers”.
