The Irish Traditional Music Archive (ITMA) is committed to providing free, universal access to the rich cultural tradition of Irish music, song and dance. If you’re able, we’d love for you to consider a donation. Any level of support will help us preserve and grow this tradition for future generations.
I’ve always been drawn to the sound of walking marches, after first having heard some played in the 1960s by Sean Ó Riada and his group, Ceoltóirí Chualann. Then one evening in the 1980s, I began composing one, and named it after the Scottish Jacobites who fought on the Irish side during the Williamite Wars of the late 1600s.
