I’ve always known this reel as having the above title. Nevertheless, I thought I’d ask Andy what its name was while chatting with him in John D. McGurk’s bar in Saint Louis. I began to lilt the tune for a bit and then I said to Andy, “What’s the name of this one?” Andy began to laugh a little nervously. It was a slow, rhythmic sort of a laugh that ended with this reply: “I think it’s called ‘Andy McGann’s'”. I was amazed at the way he answered because it sounded as if he’d never met the man.
