I associate this hornpipe with flute and fiddle musicians of east Co. Galway, but it was also a big favorite of the Ballinamere Ceilí Band, who were based three miles west of Tullamore in Co. Offaly. It was also a favorite among solo musicians in west Co. Offaly, and many of them were fellow session players of mine in Banagher and Birr. It’s from being part of these gatherings that I learned this great three-part hornpipe.
