The butterfly’s pathway
Ellie Mhicilín’s hop jig
Ellie Mhicilín is the ghost in my house, who knocks around upstairs at a fierce rate.
Teach Ceoil in Corofin Co. Clare is a converted cottage where tourists were entertained every summer for the months of July and August. It is where I have many fond memories and learned a heap of music there. Musicians from all over Clare would come to play and a lot of musicians from all over Ireland. The night was an oíche céilí without much formality. My parents brought me here all my life. They were, and are, integral to the continuing traditions of this cultural centre. They have committed a huge amount of time to keeping the doors open. Due to having this facility in the village, my brother Padraic founded the Corofin Trad Festival in 2001 and changed the setting of Teach Ceoil into an intimate concert venue. These concerts had a huge affect on me throughout my teenage years and I suppose this tune is a reminder of all these memories for me.
