Paddy Fahy is mentioned among Galway players as the musician who created this setting of a tune that is usually played as a reel. It’s easy to understand how Paddy might also play this four-part tune as a reel in the key of F, since Paddy’s liking for good music comes to us in a relaxed pace without too much speed at the expense of melody. Galway box musicians Michael McTaigue and Joe Burke introduced the playing of this one throughout their travels as session seekers around Clare, Galway, and elsewhere. Their playing of the tune influenced many followers of the B/C box during the early days of the accordion
revolution of the 1950s and 60s.
