This is an old school fiddler’s hornpipe that received close attention among New York musicians of the 1900s. Those who were known to play it included Michael Coleman, Andy McGann, Brian Conway, James ‘Lad’ O’Beirne, etc. I first heard it played as a two-part hornpipe with a different title, which was ‘The Galway Hornpipe’.
